VISUAL SQUASH
This technique can be used when you are feeling both sides of a situation and want to make a decision and find peace around an issue.
The Visual Squash Exercise
- Place your hands on your lap, palms up. Acknowledge the two ideas or conflicting sides of a situation. Imagine one feeling or decision on one hand and the other feeling or decision on the other hand.
- Allow each of the choices to form a symbol on your hand. You are creating a picture or symbol of each of the different choices. If there are three choices, you can add a dinner plate to hold the third choice.
- Ask the parts that are represented as each side of the situation to independently tell you what their higher positive intention is for you. What is it that you want by making this choice?
- Acknowledge each positive intention and imagine it fulfilled. Ask each side to honor the positive intention of the other and notice how closely they are connected. I often find that the deepest positive intention is the same on both hands. If it’s not clear, ask: Once you have that intention what is even deeper and more important to you. This will help elicit the deepest positive intention. Use your intuition to help you.
- Once the positive intentions are acknowledged and seem compatible or are the same, gradually bring your hands together having them touch. Allow a new symbol to form in the center of both palms that is a composite of the two previous symbols. This represents an answer that will satisfy both sides of you.
- It is possible that a new decision or resolution will emerge immediately or it may not. Which ever is the case, allow yourself to relax and go about your day. Use your intuition and see what comes forth naturally throughout the day as far as resolution is concerned. Pay attention to your feelings regarding the situation.
- Imagine the situation working out easily for you and for the highest good. If there is still conflict inside, repeat the strategy a little later on and continue to request the deepest core intentions to come forth. Be sure to love all your parts that are involved in the process. That will help a lot.PRACTICE AND EXAMPLE
I am going to practice this right now on a personal situation to demonstrate the strategy to you.
The symbol on one hand is a heart and the symbol on the other hand is a split heart. Humm? The purpose of each is self- love. There is more information coming forth from each side now. I merge the symbols and the new symbol is a glass chalice filled with clear sparkling water. I’m going to sit with this throughout my day. This exercise took me less than three minutes to do. The integration will take longer and I feel pretty good and more honoring of each of my parts and choices.
Love to you!
